The Office of Gender and Development led the 2025 National Women’s Month kick-off celebration through a short program in front of the Administration Building at the TSU Main Campus this Tuesday morning (March 11).

In her speech, GAD Director Dr. Rita E. Pulmano thanked the Tarlac State University administration for continuously supporting their programs, notably the annual Women’s Month celebration.

“So at this point po, gusto ko lang magpasalamat, of course, sa ating administration for the support they are giving us. Sa bawat celebration na mayroon tayo, during March and November, and ngayon po ay ang Women’s Month, andiyan po sila,” Dr. Pulmano said.

She also commended the TSU Supreme Student Council and some members of various college student councils for their collaboration with GAD.

“Alam ninyo po, ang pag-i-initiate ng ating mga student councils ng mga different programs not only for Women’s Month but for addressing issues ng kababaihan, kalalakihan, at ng mga tinatawag na person with diverse SOGIEs, ay isang manifestation that they are not only doing activities for nothing but they are having these activities to address issues not only within the university but also sa ating komunidad,” she added.

Part of the celebration is the “Juana Walk,” in which students and employees marched around the campuses, serving as a reminder of the celebration.

“Actually, mayroong nangyayaring Juana Walk before. Lumalabas pa kami, humihingi kami ng permiso para ipangalandakan na kailangan natin i-celebrate ang kakayahan, ang kagalingan, ang achievements ng mga kababaihan,” Dr. Pulmano told the Office of Public Affairs in an interview.

This marks the second consecutive year of conducting the annual march, which started after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, GAD and the TSU SSC will hold various activities in line with the National Women’s Month celebration, such as fashion shows, film and booth making, and the Mx. TSU 2025.

Seminars regarding the Magna Carta of Women will also be conducted at the TSU La Paz, Capas, and Concepcion extension campuses.
